A position has been declared open in the Weber School District at North Ogden Jr High for a Special Education Lead Paraprofessional in the Life Skills classroom. This position is for 182 days per year for 5.75 hours per day. Applicants shall include a letter of recommendation from a current supervisor and one additional letter from a professional reference.

Job Overview and Description:
This position requires extra duties as assigned by a teacher, flexibility to work with all students/groups, positive communication and problem solving, and a demonstrated pattern of independently completing duties to a high level of proficiency. Specific areas for extra responsibility will be assigned by a teacher upon offer and acceptance of position. Employee files including work history, evaluations, and attendance will be reviewed before interviews are scheduled.
Under the direction of the Building Administrator and Special Education Leaders this position is responsible for leadership in the classroom and program, including but not limited to:
- Assisting other paraprofessionals with duty related questions; not in a supervisory role.
- Modeling instruction for large and small groups of students alongside other instructional support personnel.
- Gathering materials to support teacher-created lessons for student instruction.
- Supporting the management materials needed for IEP goal instruction including gathering supplies and making copies.
- Performing classroom reset each day including visual schedules, calendaring, material organization.
- Modeling duties for new paraprofessionals.
- Supporting in the classroom with EasyTrac data entry.
- Area specific extra responsibilities as assigned by direct supervisor, but not to exceed assuming full leadership responsibility of the classroom.
Job Qualifications:
- A minimum of five years experience as a paraprofessional in WSD is preferred.
- Applicants must currently be employed as a Special Education Paraprofessional at the school they are applying to.
- Preference will be given to those within a year of completing an educational degree or will be eligible for an Associate Educator License and continue toward teacher certification. Preference given to applicants pursuing a special education licensure degree.
- Have a strong understanding of the classroom/program, advocate for student and colleague needs in a professional manner, and approach job challenges with a positive, problem-solving attitude.
- Demonstrates pride and ownership in their work tasks.
- History of high evaluation ratings and dependable attendance.
- Lead paraprofessionals will be paid an annual stipend.
