A position has been declared open in the Weber School District at Haven Bay Elementary for an Elementary Aide (Emphasis/es: Classroom Support and Reading Intervention). This paraprofessional position is for 3.00 hours per day, 9 months per year.

Job Summary:
Under the direction of the principal and teacher(s), the Elementary Aide assists teachers in a variety of capacities in the instruction and supervision of students. Attendance, physical presence, and timeliness are required and are essential functions of this position. As school needs change, your job description and essential functions could change from year to year to include Playground, Lunchroom, Classroom, STEM, Art, etc.)
Essential Functions:
- Assists in the preparation of instructional materials.
- Assists in the instruction of students and other classroom activities as needed.
- May tutor students individually or in small groups under the direction of the teacher.
- Assists with physical and emotional maintenance of students with disabilities including assessing curriculum and participating in school or classroom activities.
- Assist students needing supplemental help with various school subjects and programs.
- Assist in the administration of a variety of tests and monitor students’ academic progress.
- Keeps accurate data on assigned students or groups of students.
- Supports a school environment that helps students develop and maintain a positive self-concept.
- Support classroom behavior management to maintain a positive and focused learning environment.
- Maintains professional confidentiality regarding student information.
- Maintains effective and positive communication with students, teachers, parents, patrons and administration.

- Effectively implements interventions and strategies as outlined in Individualised Education Plans (IEP), Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP), or other student success plans.
- Collects behavior data and provides reports and/or graphs of the data to school personnel for use in developing behavior intervention plans.
- Provides feedback about specific student needs.
- May assist in on-the-job training to other paraeducators as appropriate.
- Responds to critical situations in a variety of locations on a temporary, as needed basis.
- Demonstrates flexibility, the ability to work independently and problem solve.
- During times of emergency, all employees may be required to perform additional duties that are not required on a normal basis in support of educational and operational priorities.
- Supervision of a student in a location outside the classroom as needed.

Job Summary: The Elementary Reading Interventionist is responsible for assisting in the delivery of effective reading instruction to elementary school students. This position involves working closely with classroom teachers and the instructional coach to provide targeted reading interventions, monitor student progress, and create a supportive environment that fosters literacy development.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in implementing research-based reading programs and strategies to support students' literacy development.
- Provide one-on-one or small group reading instruction to students who require additional support.
- Use a variety of instructional materials and resources to engage students in reading activities.
- Administer reading assessments
- Track and record student progress in reading and share this information with the instructional team.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to align reading instruction with classroom curriculum and goals.
- Organize and maintain literacy resources, including books, instructional materials, and technology tools.
- Assist in creating a literacy-rich classroom environment.
- Support classroom discipline and behavior management to maintain a positive and focused learning environment.

Physical Requirements (including, but not limited to, the following):
- Must be able to:
- Remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
- Move about inside and outside the school to access files, students and machinery.
- Constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, computer, computer printer.
- Occasionally ascend/descend a ladder/stairs to access high objects or different levels of the building.
- Constantly positions self to maintain files, students, or objects.
- Have the ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
- Have the ability to observe details at close and far range.
- Frequently move items weighing up to 50 pounds across the classroom for various needs.
- May work in outdoor weather conditions.
- Aides in Special Education and P.E. may be required to frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
